PenLight has created a link on its home page that will enable members to view the solar production of a 4,000 watt solar photovoltaic system that was installed on the west side of the building in 2006. The photovoltaic solar system is comprised of 20 solar panels manufactured by Shott Solar with a Sonny Boy three phase inverter which converts the 12 volt DC power to 120 volts AC. The installation is a demonstration program in conjunction with the Bonneville Power Association. The web portal will provide statistics such as the amount of energy produced each day as well as monthly and yearly totals. Members will also be able to view the amount of money saved in energy costs, the amount of BTU’s being saved, and how many pounds of green house gasses (CO2) are saved from entering the atmosphere by producing solar power.
